Sovereign Harbour will have NEW home deliveries

In March next year ( 2012 ) see a trial launch of Home Deliveries of Herbs & Spices packed at my business in Watford, Herts, known as Mr. Spiceman of Watford.

The Trial in Sovereign Harbour and the surrounding area also involve the supply and wholesale of branded cooking ingredients to those who are Vegans/Vegetarians/Celiac/Gluten Free/Wheat Free/Lactose Free.

the business is active on twitter @ mrspiceman or follow my partner and friend Norman Spiceman on Facebook.

I am planning to give special discount on Herbs, Spices and Seasonings to those members of Sovereign Harbour Residents Association.

The Trial Launch will last for six months after which, it will be analysed and refined and will be extended to the Watford and Surrounding Area of Herts.

Orders are taken by telephone 24/7/360 and will not be an online shop as me and my partner feel, we need to be closer to our customers and be in the heart of the community we serve, as part of our success recipe.

We, in Watford,  are all excited in welcoming the New Year and wish all our friends a Healthy New Year.

Sovereign Harbour " Memorial Tree "

Few years ago, I suggested for Sovereign Harbour to have a permanent tree planted in a large container which incorporate a seating round it.

The Container can be moved to a central focus point to the entrance of the Waterfront for X'MAS  and be known as the Tree of Rememberance - similar to the idea of Tree of Light which was devised by Eastbourne AM Rotary Club and now addopted by the five Rotary Clubs in Eastbourne.

At the time of my idea beeing passed around, no one in the harbour wanted anything to do with this.

Many unrealistic objections were thrown at me - why?... In my opinion, it was because it is Sam idea.

There is nothing wrong with having good ideas to help this Community in Sovereign Harbour.

It is not too late to suggest again and to plan in having a Memorial Tree planted in a Container to be placed in Sovereign Harbour ready for next year X'MAS.

Come on everyone in the Harbour... forget it is Sam idea... Lets have our Rotary Club in Sovereign Harbour adopt this event within the Harbour every X'MAS.

Merry X'MAS to all my friends.

Sovereign Harbour Debating Society - Appologies

Last Wed. the 9th of November, I arrived 20 minutes late after 3pm because I was engaged in a business meeting not far away from Simply Italian Restaurant.

On arrival, those who came have already left and those who arrived not knowing where the meeting is now held ( because a Nursery occupy the Annex ), and for that reason they have just walked away.

It is a bit of a confusion and for that I appologies.

At this very moment, I am too deeply involved with my business, meeting suppliers, exchanging e-mails with my customers, chassing orders and everything which go wrong happen at the same time.

I am glad X'MAS is only once a year and few more days left before I can have a good rest.

I promise, I will make all efforts to arrive a bit early this coming Wed.

Hope to see you then and thank you.

Sovereign Harbour Debating Society - today event

I just returned from this afternoon 4th meeting of Sovereign Harbour Debating Society.

I am delighted with today attendance of six participants.

We have debated 16 subjects without an agenda.

It is now taking the shape of informal talking rather debating on a single issue.

It is too early days as I have now to decide weither to take the group to a New Home or not.

Gringos the New American Dinner at the Waterfront did offer the New Group a home.

today trial of having the meeting in the main dinning area was a bit noisy for a start then it went quite.

Next week trial again at Simply Italian main dinning room will tested if the noise level is acceptable.

I will update again on this issue.

Thank you everyone for coming.

Sovereign Harbour Debating Society - Subject for Wed. 19th October

After a successful first debate attended by 11 Harbour Residents which lasted over an hour, it was decided to carry on meeting every Wed. at 3pm.

Today subject of the debate was changed in order to explore various propositions on which to base future debates.

In my opinion, It is best for those who will attended in the future to bring along friends in order to expend the group.

It was decided also that the next meeting will be chaired by myself and there after, members will take turn in chairing the meetings.

We talked about numerous subjects and have decided among us that at the next meeting everyone will bring a subject to be put into a hut and one of the suggestion will be picked up for debating on the following week meeting.

As for the 2nd meeting next week, it was decided that....

The second meeting of Sovereign Harbour Debating Society will be held again on Wed. the 19th of October 2011 @ 3pm at Simply Italian Annex.

The Subject to be debated...

Do you agree or disagree on Corporate Punishment and Why???

Come down and join us in the Debate for FREE... all you have to do is buy yourself a cup of coffee or a drink.

And, you don't have to attend every week.

Sovereign Harbour Debating Society - Next Week Proposal

It was put to me as a proposal by e-mail... in addition to the weekly Wed. afternoon debates to add....

Once a month to have a Community Dinner with invited guest speaker followed by questions and answer related to the subject.

In my opinion, it is too early to leap forward at present time of launching.

However, if you agree with me, it is a good proposition which give room for those who work during the day and live in the Harbour to join us in the debate once a month.

Also, Sovereign Harbour Debating Society will then have a day in the month to invite over 16's College Students to join us in the debate which we will then called.... An Evening With ????....

See you Wed the 12th of October at 3pm at Simply Italian, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

Sovereign Harbour A hot Sunny Sunday on the beach

Well, well, well... how about yesterday, Sunday the 2nd of October... a day to remember before the winter close in.

A hot sunny days greeted the opening of the Autumn Season in Sovereign Harbour.

Residents of the Harbour had the best picnic on the beach... all to themselves.

If you were one of them... how about that !!!

A Sunday to remember for a long time.

Yes, the beaches in Sovereign Harbour are private land up to the waterline owned by the residents who live on the beach side of the harbour.

Although the beach front walkways are public, the beaches are not.

So when you buy a property which overlook the beach in Sovereign Harbour... you are part owner of the beach

So we did not have the crowd... only the cool booze, laughters and friends gathering in groups enjoying the warm sunny day with clean beaches stretching for miles.

The sailing boats, the dingies, the kayaking, the windsurfing, the modest yachts were all out enjoying this weather with a calm sea to enjoy a swim.

Sovereign Harbour RNLI had a very busy weekend...Thank you lads and what an excellent job you do... well done !!

Come and join us in Sovereign Harbour UK and be part of this community.

Enjoy...

Sovereign Harbour - Eight Years flew-by !!!

In August 2003, me and my wife baught our flat in the North Harbour.

we moved in as our second home in order to retire.

The whole of the Harbour ( North and South ) was a large building site... You will not recognise it now with nearly 6,500 residents in the North Harbour and nearly 3,500 residents in the South Harbour.

This year was my 70th birthday and I am still active in the Community as ever.

I was looking this morning at " Down Your Way " published in the Eastbourne Herald and in the write up " Sovereign Harbour " contributed by my friend Ian Weeks, I couldn't beleive how many activities are taking place down here in Sovereign Harbour.

you only have to look at Sovereign Harbour Residents Association Website www.shra.co.uk to realise this Community which was not in existance some 15 years ago, turned out to be the most dynamic in Eastbourne.

Imagine, we have now three Women Institutes ( not one !! ), an active Rotary Club ( one of five in Eastbourne), a Social Club with over 70 members who meet once a week for Coffee every Wed at 10am and have to be relocated to Simply Italian because Seamoors Wine Bar become too small to accomodate the ever increasing membership.....

The list go on and on... see for yourself... log on Community, then to "Down Your Way " then the latest write up on " Sovereign Harbour ".

My involvement with this Community is well documented.

In my opinion... it is not me to be congratulated on so much acheived over the years.... the residents of Sovereign Harbour should  congratulated themselves for supporting the many activities which I initiated.

The Residents of Sovereign Harbour who came from different part of the Country, chose to settle in this beautiful part of England and make it there home.

In the process, they look for new friends, something to do and whatever the reason... they and only them are the winners who achieved so much in so little time.

Well done all of you .... raise a glass to your health... Cheers !!... and.... for more the same in years to come.

Congratulations.....

Sovereign Harbour Debating Society Launch Wed. 12/10/11

During my talk this week with those who will support the idea of having a Debating Society in Sovereign Harbour starting on Wed. the 12th of October - we agree to disagree that the first topic should be....

For those who lack confidence come and listen.

It is FREE...

The New Society will be open also to those in there late teens (18 + ) who want to use a public platform to gain confidence because without this confidence to speak in public, they can not gain higher employment.

Sovereign Harbour ASDA will host LearnDirect ??

During my visit to ASDA yesterday, I noticed that they have stuck at each check-out posters advertising as from next Monday the 27th of September, LearnDirect who host IT classes at all East Sussex Libraries, are setting up classes in Sovereign Harbour ASDA.

Is this an upgrade from East Sussex Mobile Office which visit the harbour for two hours every Monday??....

Or is it a gesture hatched up between East Sussex County Council and the local ASDA to test the ground  to find out if Sovereign Harbour realy need a library???...

It is now four years since I started campaining for Sovereign Harbour to have a Community Library.

I am not exhausted but I am disapointed that East Sussex County Council think by offering Computer Classes instead of a Community Library in ASDA, they have solved the problem on the cheap.

Well, I will be still here drumming for Sovereign Harbour to have a Community Library in ASDA... the sooner, the better.

Sovereign Harbour Social Club - Move to New Location

As Founder and the Present Chairman of Sovereign Harbour Social Club I am pleased to announce that the Club Membership have soared beyound the 70 members with an additional two more residents of the harbour who turned up this morning to add to the club numbers.

BIG THANK YOU to Sovereign Harbour Social Club Committee who work very hard in organising events and outings and also BIG THANK YOU to our host for the last three years - The Management of Seamoors Wine Bar, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront and in particular Angie and her friends.

Seamoors Wine Bar can only accomodate up to 35 customers and at times, the Club Members have nowhere to sit down and socialise.

The Club meet every Wed. at 10am for an hour and half for coffee and socialising.

Over the years, the Club had a fair share of ups and down but what is important, this Social Club continue to grow and grow to become a very popular place for weekly meetings and socialising in Sovereign Harbour.

The other popular meeting group in the harbour is of course the one and only " Harbour Women Institute " with membership around 90 and where members meet once a month, on the second Monday at 2pm at the Harbour Yacht Club.

At today Sovereign Harbour Social Club Meeting, it was decided as from next Wed the 21st of September, members will meet at Simply Italian Annex, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront at 10am.

you can follow the club on its dedicated website

Please visit us or come along to our weekly meeting.

Membership is open to Residents and non-residents of the harbour.

Sovereign Harbour Rotary Club - my involvement

Sovereign Harbour Rotary Club have now a New President and I wish him well.

I can't believe how time fly by so quickly.

Back at the end of December 2009, I wrote my last blog on site dedicated to Sovereign Harbour Rotary from inseption.

You can look back by logging on

www.blogstoday.co.uk/bloghome.aspx?username=sovereignharbour-rotary

http://www.blogstoday.co.uk/bloghome.aspx?username=sovereignharbour-rotary

In my opinion then and still is, the new Rotary Club in Sovereign Harbour should be Fresh, Modern and relevant to the time and area where we live.

In the year 2006 I have decided that we, in Sovereign Harbour, should have our own Rotary Club in order to help this Community.

Eastbourne already had four Rotary Clubs struggling to find new members to join.

No wounder I had such a hard time which took me over two years to convince the Rotary Clubs that here, in Sovereign Harbour, we are in a unique position.

yes we are part of Eastbourne but then, Sovereign Harbour Community have grown in such a short space of time that the world should stand up and look at reality.

My persistance have finaly paid off and I am glad we have now a thriving Rotary Club in Sovereign Harbour.

I wish the New President and his board well in the next two years of his presidency.

The present elected President was supposed to be next year President Elect but this year President has to step down because of ill health so an election of members was held and decided that next year President Elect should take the presidency now and serve for the next two years.

If you live in Sovereign Harbour why don't you join us.

The Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour meet every Tuesday at 7pm at Simply Italian Restaurant Annex.

You will be assured of big welcome as you will be among friends.

Sovereign Harbour the end of the summer

Sovereign Harbour this year had a very good weather... Oh Yes !!!.... some agree and some disagree.

Lets say... we had good sunny days and some not so good sunny days....

How about the start of this week ??...

Yesterday, I have launched two Cookery Clubs... and what a day it was.... my luck!!

The Morning launch of the Cookery Club at 10am which took place at Seamoor Wine Bar, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.... The Wind was so strong it nearly blew me away !!... Just imagine, I am on the heavy side, mind you... I can't help looking at my tummy... always hungry... what shall I do ??

I love food... don't you ??

Few hardy people show up with an inquisitive look...with exprations on there face... you are realy here... you made it through the wind.

Yes.. I did!!... you can see I am here...

The afternoon weather was slightly better with the launch of the PM Cookery Club at 3pm which took place at Simply Italian Restaurant, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

It was disappointing for me to see quite few people did not turn up but for those who did... thank you.

We had an hour of good discussion and for me as non-celiac, I learnt a lot.

We decided at the end that the group will meet again on a weekly basis in order to exchange ideas and learn from each other how to improve life for celiac.

In other word, what I have planned as a Cookery Club with those food intolerence turned up to be a New Celiac Group in East Sussex.

I am very pleased with that.

The Celiac Group in Sovereign Harbour will meet every Monday at 3pm at Simply Italian Restaurant, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

Come and join us and make friends..

See you next week.

I am sure someone will step in and take the running of SHRA website but I am sure it will not be same without Tony Passion.

Sovereign Harbour Cookery Clubs - Why Two Clubs Explained

My original idea is to have one Cookery Club in Sovereign Harbour to add to the collections of clubs I have initiated in this part of the world.

My first thought was to create something of interest for this community and the surrounding residents in the neighbouring area.

I have explained previously to how I came to decided on the day, the launch date and the name Sovereign Harbour Cookery Clubs.

Events took different turning when I was speaking to some of my clients at my business in Watford.

It was suggested to me that I should start selling the Full Range of Gluten Free Products at a discount prices in Watford.

I did my research and I found that in this area in East Sussex there is no Celiac Group.

I contacted the charity Celiac UK and they confirmed to me that they have members in this part of the world but not a group gathering.

Celiac UK told me that they are thinking of starting in October such group.

I seized on this opportunity by setting up a second cookery club in Sovereign Harbour specific for those who suffer from food intolerence such as Celiac.

The Gluten Free Cookery Club in Sovereign Harbour will be launched on Monday the 12th of September at 3pm to be located at Simply Italian Annex, Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

I look forward to meet everyone who wish to participate.

It is FREE to join  but a 50p levied each time to cover cost of paper and ink.

You must register in order for me to accomodate everyone - space with Simply Italian Annex is limited.

You must also purchase a drink as part of the agreement reached with the owners of the premises.

I am in the process of setting up in Watford a completly new trading company to back this project with new premises for stock taking and negotiating discount prices with importers and manufacturers to be offered to members of The Gluten Free Cookery Club in Sovereign Harbour.

The Gluten Free Cookery Club in Sovereign Harbour will be a Non-Profit making club in support of this community and others residents from outside the harbour.

Please send me an e-mail to register

On Friday morning  the 5th of August 2011, the Residents of Sovereign Harbour woke up with a New Dawn and a Hope.

Several years gone by and more years ahead would have been wasted for the residents of the harbour to fight  Carillion plc - the land owner.

They will have been no guarrantee anything would have been achieved in future wait for the residents in order achieve - no more development in the Harbour.

Our New MP Mr. Stephen Lloyd who took over from Mr. Nigel Waterson in winning the last election, took the task of doing many things to benefit Eastbourne.

Stephen.... I salute you !!

Years of past struggle to achieve what is right for the Harbour Resident lead us to nowhere.

Years gone by with wasted time and energy... no hope in sight.

Only last week, I mentioned to a friend that nothing will be acheived in the future in Harbour within my life time.

How wrong I was.

The lastest News took us all  by surprise - No wounder my friends close to the action kept there mouth shut away from gossiping.

Now I understand..... I forgive you !!!

It took  a common sense for only by working together and compromise here and there that Sovereign Harbour Community will in the future prosper and have everything ( ALMOST ) but surely small things better than nothing.

The Harbour Residents owe SHRA Committee BIG THANK YOU in fighting for years on our behalf.

Lets see if Carillion plc will now play ball.

And, once the work of SHRA finish.... The New  Harbour Community Association will be the one who will take over  future running of Community  Facilities in Sovereign Harbour.

I wish everyone all the best and THANK YOU.

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park - Proposal Radical Change

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park was previously known as The Crumbles.

Built about 15 years ago and originate as an out of town Shopping Park to complement ASDA Supermarket who own the land on the otherside.

To mark the two sides, a road, the main thoroughfare leading from the Petrol Station to both ASDA and the Retail Park mark the boundary line.

PRUPIM ( the Prudential Property Investment Managers Ltd ) who will be delivering the project of upgrading the Retail Park on behalf of the site owners - The Prudential Assurance Company Ltd.

The Plan in progress is for the area previously occupied by Fitness First Building will be put as proposal to demolish the present building and to replace it with...

**  New Restaurants and shops
**  A state of the art 9 screen cinema
**  Modernise frontaages for existing retailers
**  An improved pedestrian link between the retail park and the adjoining residential community
**  Additional parking spaces with improved car park layout
**  Proposed bus link through the Park linking Atlantic and Pacific Drive with Harbour Quay.

It is planned to rebrand the name of Sovereign Harbour Retail Park to give a new name... Sovereign Central to mark the regeneration of the area.

However, whoever thought of the name Sovereign Central did not realise that we already have similar name in use localy... Sovereign Centre which located within Sovereign Park, just outside Sovereign Harbour.

In my opinion, the name should be " Sovereign Harbour Central " to reflect its central position within Sovereign Harbour.

We already have Sovereign Harbour North and Sovereign Harbour South.

Lets be clear - Sovereign Harbour Retail Park is not part of the land owned by Carillion Plc the landowners of Sovereign Harbour.

For that reason, I can only propose that PRUPIM should look at including a Community Hall ( Not a Community Centre ) to be built on land behind the present cinema site.

Sovereign Harbour Community is so short of places we can hire for activities and the only hall available within Sovereign Harbour is at the Yacht Club where they charge £200 per hour.

Sometimes, Sovereign Harbour activities take place at the Haven School in the South Harbour but the school is very stretched.

I wish PRUPIM well in there New Plan and thank them for listening to the local residents.

Sovereign Harbour New Cookery Club Launch

I realy did not have the intention to start another club in Sovereign Harbour.

However, having a second thought while sitting having coffee with Sovereign Harbour Social Club.. I remember starting a sucessfull Cookery Club somewhere else, not in the harbour.... I asked myself why not start once more to establish an identical Cookery Club for this Community.

I have ask my friends in the harbour for advise and they all gave me the thumb up... go for it.

Past experience taught me not to involve too many hands and, my fingers were burnt so many time, I lost count.

This time round, I am involving nobody in the setting up. If I rise or fall will be on my own head.

To set up the scene, I have asked my friends at Seamoors Wine Bar if they are willing to accommodate this venue at there premises. They agreed.

I fixed the day of the week... will be Monday..... and the time will be at 10am for an hour and a half as I have done with the Social Club in the Harbour.

To start, I have to launch this club at the end of the summer, so I fixed the date Monday 12th of September.

I set up an email address :-  shcookeryclub@gmail.com

I also set up a Blog for Sovereign Harbour Cookery Club which you can follow with update and cookery recipes

www.shcookeryclub.blogspot.com

you can also leave comments and suggestions as well as contribute original recipes.

If you live in Sovereign Harbour or the surrounding area, why not come and join  in the fun.

While Seamoors Wine Bar is limited for space, I have other plan to expand, if necessary, staying again within Sovereign Harbour for activities.

Hope to see you and make friends in this beautiful corner of England.

Sovereign Harbour Kayak Fishing New Sport

Out of my window overlooking the beach on a quite sunny day, I noticed this man walking toward the water with a light Kayak over his head, rack sack on his back and carrying a fishing rod.

I was intrigued to how he is going to attach the rod to the kayak.

The man took his Kayak from over his head.

To the back of the Kayak, he made a wooden platform with a whole to fit the rod.

He put his rack sack over the platform and away he went into the water.

He peddled far away from the beach then he turned round his back, cast the rod into the water and away he peddled again.

With my binoculars I followed him and it did not take much time, the fishing rod started bending - this is a sign that a fish come to the end of its life ready for dinner tonight.

I couldn't beleive my eyes - the man took the fish from the rod and put it in an improvised net which was attached to the wooden platform and based into the water.

I thought what a wounderful idea for others in the Harbour to start a Kayak Fishing Competition or for those keen fishing enthusiasts to start a new trend of Kayak Fishing in Sovereign Harbour.

Yes !!! Sovereign Harbour is the Place to recommend for those considering taking early retirement.

Sovereign Harbour is very safe place to call a home, especialy if you want to have a relaxed life and make friends.

Sovereign Harbour ASDA - What is wrong ??

Sovereign Harbour ASDA was the first to trade into this area as out of Town Hypermarket, located in what then known as "The Crumbles".

ASDA sit on a vast valuable land located in a prime position.

The only problem with Sovereign Harbour ASDA is that they have had a series of changed Managers, at one time, so often in fact that in one year The Manager of Brighton ASDA at the Brighton Marina was also the Manager of Eastbourne ASDA.

ASDA Head Office in Leeds no such interest in ASDA Eastbourne and neither the Area Manager for ASDA.

While around Eastbourne ASDA a large Community of nearly 10,000 residents was built, ASDA Head Office ignored completly this Community which is located in Sovereign Harbour - nearly 6,500 Harbour residents live in the North Harbour and nearly 3,500 residents live in the South Harbour.

1.5 Million Shoppers visit Sovereign Harbour Retail Park each year.

Sovereign harbour have the largest marina in Europe - nearly 1,700 crafts.

Very busy Multi-Screen Cinema located within Sovereign harbour Retail Park.

Eastbourne ASDA still called themselved ASDA in the Crumbles.

Sovereign Harbour ASDA took no interest to be involved with Sovereign harbour Community.

It is hard to beleive that Mr. Sam ( Sam Walton the founder of WalMart ) will turn in his grave to think that one of his outlets have turned its back on its Community where valuable money is been generated.

It is time for Mr. Mike Duke the President & CEO of WatMart Parent Company of ASDA to call the shot and see that his team in the UK lead by Mr. Andy Clarke and his team in Leeds take an interest in Sovereign Harbour Community.

For a start, Sovereign Harbour Community need a Community Library which can be located within the empty premises of Eastbourne ASDA.

Second -  for Sovereign Harbour ASDA to be involved with Sovereign Harbour Community.

There is so much ASDA can do and we all crying out for help.

Eastbourne ASDA in Sovereign Harbour ( Not the Crumbles ) maybe smaller than Brighton ASDA but the difference is ASDA Eastbourne is located in the Heart of Sovereign harbour Community while Brighton ASDA is not even in the centre of Brighton.

There is enough land for Sovereign Harbour ASDA to develop and bring in more employment in the area by establishing a Fast Food Complex by the round about to the entrance of Sovereign Harbour Retail Park.

I appeal again to Mr. Andy Clarke and his ASDA Management Team in Leeds to come down and see the situation at Sovereign Harbour.

Your ASDA Help to Sovereign Harbour Residents will be much appreciated.

Thank you

Sovereign Harbour - A Piece of Haven

Waking up this morning on my 70th  birthday - I often wounder, the question my friends in London ask me... What is like living in Sovereign Harbour.

eight years flew by since I purchased my second home in Sovereign Harbour and every morning I count my blessings.

I maybe lucky to have found such a piece of haven on this earth.

My flat overlook the beach and from my balcony I can see the whole of Pevensey Bay up to the Hill of Hastings and to my right, the entrance to Sovereign Harbour with its many Sailing Boats, Fishing Boats and even expensive Yachts go in and out from this stretch of causeway.

Me and my wife, so long as we have our health, we thank the above for letting us enjoy the good sunshine most of the year round because Eastbourne Coast is officialy the sunniest part of the United Kingdom.

Over the years we have made many friends in the harbour.

Sovereign Harbour is small community of nearly 10,000 harbour residents.

As often the case, you see many new faces coming from all over the country to settle in this corner
of England.

Often, they are young families with children moving to the harbour in increasing number.

The Harbour is also home for those who took early retirement so, in this case, by in large, it is not like living in Eastbourne Town.

Life in the Harbour is very relaxed and you can walk for miles over clean spotless beaches and walkways.

If you want a piece of haven on this earth, come and join us in Sovereign Harbour - It will be, probably, the best time of your life.

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park Explained

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park until recently, it was known to the local as the Crumble.

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park is devided into two sections. ASDA 24 owned the land nearer to Pevensey Road while PRUPIM own the proper Retail Park and including the lands  behind the Car Park up to the point where the land is devided by a pathway which separate it from the land owned by Carillion Plc ( The land owners of Sovereign Harbour Marina ).

Sovereign Harbour Retail Park is located about 3.5 miles outside Eastbourne on  Pevensey Bay coastal road.

PRUPIM is among the top 20 global estate investment manager, part of M&G group of companies which is the asset management arm of Prudential Plc in the UK & Europe.

PRUPIM owned the property in Sovereign Harbour Retail Park which is sitting on  land, for so long empty, waiting to be filled with such things as Fast Food  to complement the busy Multi-Screen Cinema. Also there is enough land to develop a leisure centre to incorporate an Indoor Bowling Centre and maybe to include a Boutique Hotel.

It is now  time for PRUPIM to look again at Sovereign Harbour Retail Park with nearly 1.5 million shoppers who visit the Retail Park annualy and, together with ASDA 24 with its vast empty available land waiting to be commercialy developed further  in order to bring more life into Sovereign Harbour where nearly 10,000 harbour residents live.

My call to Eastbourne Borough Council Planning Committee - please wake up and encourage PRUPIM and ASDA to develope their empty land in order to bring the match needed employment to the  people of Eastbourne and the surrounding area.

Sovereign Harbour need Children Activities

About two years ago I invited Eastbourne Scouts and the local Girls Guide & Brownies to set up New Activity based at Sovereign Harbour. A meeting was held at the Haven School in the South Harbour attended by the Haven School  Head Teacher, East Sussex County Councillor Mr. David Elkin, representatives from the Girls Guide and Brownies, the eastbourne Scouts, representative from Sovereign Harbour Residents Association and by invitation, one family who live in Sovereign harbour came to put there case forward.
I must admit it was a waste of time and effort from my part. Eastbourne Scouts and the local Girls Guides and Brownies in collusion with each others had already decided that they do not want to extend there activities to Sovereign Harbour putting an obstacle in the way of progress by saying that they do not have enough leaders.
This maybe true but they do not have a dynamic program to train leaders, as I understand. Also they stated that Sovereign Harbour do not have a location where such activity can be curried out. At the time, The Haven School also objected to having such activity taken place on there premises stating that there facilities are already exhausted. However, they did find the time and space to accomodate present activities for a new group of residents taking place every Fridays but not to accomodate activities related to a New Scouting Cubs or Girls Guide and Brownies in the Harbour.
I do appeal to both movements to look again at Sovereign Harbour. I am willing to help again in re-ignitting the desire to establish such activities in the Harbour.
It is time those iconic movements will advance with the time and look again to expend in helping New Communities such as the one in Sovereign Harbour. Lets wait and see if they listen !!!

Sovereign Harbour - understand the Community

Sovereign Harbour is devided into four distinct areas, each one is different from the other.
The South Harbour is the first part when the harbour started beeing developed. The area is accessed through Atlantic Drive following the direction from Langney Point where Eastbourne Promenade end at the Water Treatment. This Building is not within Sovereign Harbour boundary but the neighbouring Mortelo Tower is. The South Harbour is populated by nearly 3,500 residents housed in blocks of flats but town houses exist in the South Harbour but on the otherside of Atlantic Drive backing to Langney Point. The Second part of the Harbour is the central marina where the Harbour Waterfront is located surrounded by high rise flats some of those flats are very exclusive with prices in excess of £750,000.
Further on is the North Marina - the newest development with its open spaces, detached houses, exclusive mensions with its own gardens leading to private jetties for the mooring of yachts and expensive water crafts. The North Marina also boast about 1.5 km of private beaches and walkways. Life in the North Harbour is very different to the rest of the Harbour. This is where about 6.500 residents live.
The fourth area is the Commercial where Sovereign Harbour Retail Park is situated. dominated by ASDA 24 and a very popular multi-screen cinema.
Sovereign Harbour have also a fifth area for servicng, repairs and storage of Marine Crafts. House prices in Sovereign Harbour varies according to location and type of accomodations, some of which are valued to ver £1.5 million. In the past, they are many developers fighting to fill empty properties - this is where the perception still linggering on. I am pleased to say, many of the empty properties are now beeing filled by young families moving from various part of the country to make there home in Sovereign Harbour. I hope one day, you will come and join us in order to build a good family life for the future of your children in Sovereign Harbour.

Sovereign Harbour need a Community Library

For over four years, I have been asking East Sussex County Council to establish a Community Library in Sovereign Harbour based inside ASDA 24 in Sovereign Harbour Retail Park and manned by local volenteers residents seven days a week. What ESCC in there wisdom did and to shut me up, they gave the nearly 10,000 residents of Sovereign Harbour a mobile library which call for two hours once a week and accomodate only three people. Is that what the 10,000 residents of Sovereign Harbour deserve ?? ESCC argued with me in the past and trying to put the view that Sovereign Harbour do not need a Community Library to be located in ASDA 24. They also said they don't have the money to start a Community Library in Sovereign Harbour, yet they spend a fortune renovating and refurbushing other libraries in East Sussex. They also said to me that the residents of the harbour can use other facilities in the nearby libraries. I ask again WHY??... no further comments.  I presume, I am a single voice in the harbour shouting in the void. Please follow me now on Twitter.... samsweiry.  Thank you

Sovereign Harbour the Many Clubs Created

As a resident in the North Harbour, I am proud, within the short space of my coming to live in this beautiful corner of England, I have been involved in putting together or establishing so many social activities. some of those took longer to come by and, they are taken for granted such as Sovereign Harbour Rotary Club which took me over two years to convince the Rotary Club Movement that there is a local demand to put Sovereign Harbour on the Rotary World Map. read more by logging to
www.blogstoday.co.uk/sovereignharbour-rotary.blog
Others took off without my involvement after I have create them  such as Sovereign Harbour Camera Club  and others which followed that.
Sovereign Harbour Investment Club was a joy to start as I have made a lot of friends.
The thing is, I am always restless, looking for next project to keep me occupied and active.
Some of those I worked with, love what I do, and try to work with me, others hated me and stood in  the way of creative progress which led me to stop working with those who don't like working with me because I found other projects to take there place.
So far, I am pleased with what I did in Sovereign Harbour.
I hope those who are enjoying the fruit of my labour will keep enjoying it and make lots of friends in Sovereign Harbour.
Others who don't like with what I did, they have to live with because I can only look for the future and, future generation will reflect on the work I created in Sovereign harbour.
Sovereign Harbour Residents are all emigrants to this part of the world and together they form this up and coming community.
I invite you to come and join us and make friends among us. We may not be all perfect - life is what you make of it wherever you go.
Come and join us for the best time of your life.

Sovereign Harbour Social Club Marching on

Sovereign Harbour Social Club start its life nearly four years ago when I decided to form an  weekly Luncheon Club in Sovereign Harbour after the success of launching The Investment Club earlier on. I chose for the New Club Members to meet at Sovereign Harbour Harvester every Wed. Lunchtime. The launch was attended by the local MP and the newly elected Borough Councillor as well as the local Commander of Eastbourne Police. At the same time, I invited the Women Institute to take this opportunity in order to establish a local WI in Sovereign Harbour. Over 60 people attended the launch which was reported in the local Eastbourne Herald Newspaper. Later on The Harbour WI became the biggest Woemen Institute in the Country - Well Done and Congratulations. Six months after the launch of the Lunchon Club, membership declined and it was left to few who attended the Weekly Lunchon. After consultations with few friends, I had the feed back that what the Harbour Residents want is a Social Club. because the harbour do not have a Community Centre, the owner of Seamor Wine Bar at the Waterfront have agreed to open there door an hour earlier at 10am  for the Social Club Members to have a regular weekly morning coffee and socialising. I looked at the nearby other communities such as Langney Point and Langney Rise and decided residents of nearby communities could come and join us in the Harbour unlike Harbour Friends Social Club. As a Social Club we needed to raise working fund to pay for such things as a Club Website, Birthday Cakes etc. I draughted a Constitution for the new social club in the harbour and invited members to stand on committee. We talk through each part of the new constitution, added some, taken out some until we agreed it was fair and proper to recommend to members for approval. Behind my mind always that one day, Sovereign Harbour Social Club will take up the running of future Community Centre in the Harbour. A year passed and some of my Committee had disagreement with members and a new committee was formed. a year later, the new formed committee found themselves again in disagreement and I had again to form a New Committee. this went on three years. in the meantime, I decided to put together a new group headed by a recently retired Councillor. As a result, we have now The Harbour Community Association who will be taking on activities for the Harbour Residents otherwise the Social Club Committee were unable to do. This year which to come to the third year anniversary, I consulted with the Club Social Committee and some active members to where we are heading and what the Club Members want. Because of the complication of having a Club Constitution based on my original thinking, I have decided with the approval of the Committee to suspend the constitution which I put to the vote last wed. with no objection. The Club Officers will remain and any surplus money from last year  will be carried on to the next financial year. Copy of the account was circulated to all members. As a Social Club with no outside funding, the Committee have agree to carry on the present membership of £5 pa. Sovereign Harbour Social Club is open to everyone and not exclusive to the Residents of the Harbour. The Club will carry on as a Wed Coffee Morning for socialising and other activities taken by members. Everyone is welcome. Sam Sweiry Founder and Chairman of Sovereign Harbour Social Club

Sovereign Harbour Open For Affordable Housing

Time to put a spot light on living in Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour Area which is situated about 3.5 miles to the east of the town centre.
Maybe Eastbourne has the image of a place for retired people to spend the rest of there life by the sea but many forget the fact that we have Sovereign Harbour open to welcome young families with affordable housing.
Where can you buy two bed rooms luxury flats for under £150,000 - Sovereign Harbour of course.
Where will you find the best school - Bishopbell School by Sovereign Harbour of course and not to forget the Haven School inside Sovereign Harbour.
Young families looking to make a fresh start in live for the sake of there children should come and join the young community in Sovereign Harbour.
There is nowhere on earth I would like to be, one young resident of the Harbour commented, then to be with my family living in Sovereign Harbour.
Over the recent holidays, my grand daughter was staying with us. she asked me - is there any children living in Eastbourne. She continue to tell me that only old people live in Eastbourne.
Yes, I said, old people live everywhere.
I took her around the harbour and showed her so many young children coming back from schools.
I drove round the many schools and showed her the many wounderful places we have in Sovereign Harbour.
I hope, you too, can join us in Sovereign Harbour and be part of our young community.

Sovereign Harbour A New Dawn Just Began

Sovereign Harbour Residents has voiced there opinion on Thursday the 5th of May 2011 to elect New Borough Councillors in Eastbourne. Four years ago, the residents of Sovereign Harbour trusted there vote and place it in the hand of  caretakers with lots of promises to improve the life of nearly 10,000 residents with no such facilities as a Community Centre, Parks for Childen to play in safety etc. However, only one item on the agenda have materialised after compromises and  long battle funded by our Harbour dedicated GPs to have at last a Community Health Centre. I send Dr. Adoki and his Staff  the Residents thanks and best wishes.
The issue of having a Community Centre in the harbour to cater for the nearly 10,000 people is still a hot topic on which this present election was contested. Carillion Plc the owner of the Harbour Land will not give the residents of the Harbour a Community Centre without a fight. Time for for our newly elected borough councillors to tighten there belt and start working on this issue because four years from now they will be held to account. Four years is not a long time to put this issue and others right. Our Eastbourne Borough Council should be tough with Carillion Plc who made a lot of money out of developing Sovereign Harbour - it is now there exit time and probably they want to milk the cow to the last drop.
Carillion Plc offices in the harbour are now redundant including the land on which the building is now located. I can't see why not Eastbourne Borough Councill can not not find a way to forcibly take over the land and the building which is now empty for years and give it to the residents of the harbour who can make use of converting it to a Community Centre.
Past Councillors were soft with Carillion Plc lets our Newly elected councillors roll up there sleaves start the fight on our behalf. We, the residents of the harbour, will be watching and waiting. You got our vote now show us - YOU CAN !!

Attempt to establish a Sailing Club for Disbles in Sovereign harbour

I just returned from a cruising holiday from Southampton where I met and spoken to many Disabled People on board.

I have just circulated an open letter to the Media which I want to put it on record.

Quote:-

From Sam Sweiry - Sovereign Harbour

Subject:- Attempt to launch "Sport Forum" for Disable based in Sovereign Harbour.

Just returned after a New Year cruise on the Independence of Seas from Southampton where I have met and talked to a lot of disabled people onboard.

One of the interesting encounter was with a charismatic, full of life disabled gentleman from Bournemouth by the name of Richard.

Richard is involved with the running of the Sport Forum Sailing Club located in Bournemouth where they have established a local charity which own and operate  a converted 9 meter sailing cataramaran called "Knoticat" which offers real hand on sailing to a wide range of disabilities .

Marina Developments Ltd. at Cobbs Quay in Pool Harbour offerred a free mooring with many local volenteers offering there help  from skippering and crewing to boat maintenance.

the boat have a ramped entry part making access easy for most wheelchairs, a fully enclosed cabin with wide bunk for those who may need to lie down and accessible electricity operated toilet.

I was so impressed that I decided to be involved in setting up similar project based in Sovereign Harbour.

I would like to call on all disabled persons and there carers who are interested to join me to take part in launching  a Sport Forum Sailing Club based in Sovereign Harbour Marina, to be run by Disables Persons for Disables Persons with help from volenteers able bodies, experienced in sailing.

Fund raising, at this stage, is not important.

money will be found from kind hearted people.

I need to build a club structure first, in order to run this scheme and apply for a Charity Status.

Website need to be setup - any volenteers to run it , Please ??

Please contact me on sweirysam@aol.com in the first instance.

Your Help in giving a wider publicity will be very much appreciated by all Disabled Persons & there Carers.

Thank you so much.

unqote....

Sovereign Harbour is well positioned for people from as far as London ( only a couple of hours away ).

I call on people with disabilities and there carers to get in touch with.

This New Non-Profit Social Club is open to anyone which does't include Sailing only but, Canoeing and other water leisure sport to suite anyone according to there ability.

I need Team Leaders, Volenteers with First Aid experience, Safety Officers to oversee all operations in accordance with the Law etc....

Most of all I need People with Disabilities who love to take to the water and enjoy the experience.

Please Help me to help others by e-mail me.

Spread the word and tell your friends.

Thank you.
